Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 25, 2026
The short version
- Every AI feature runs on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence. Your meal photos, nutrition labels, voice, text and AI Coach chats are never sent to us or to any AI company.
- There is no account, no sign-up and no backend server. We (the developer) never receive your food log, health data or photos.
- Your data lives on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your own private iCloud database, which we cannot read.
- No ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking across apps, and we never sell data.
Who we are
Calorie Tracker: Private AI (“Calorie Tracker”, “the app”) is an iPhone app published by an independent developer, Co Trinh Hien Duy (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data the app handles, where it is processed, and the choices you have. For any privacy question, email coduy96@gmail.com.
Data the app stores on your device
To work, the app stores the following on your iPhone. None of it is sent to us.
- Your profile and goals: for example birthday, sex, height, weight, activity level, goal weight and your calorie, macro and nutrient targets.
- Your food log: meals and the nutrition values you log, favorites, and any meal photos you choose to attach.
- Body measurements: weight and body-fat entries, and any progress photos you add.
- AI Coach conversations and your app settings (reminder times, theme, language and so on).
- An anonymous install ID: a random identifier created on your device. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple ID, and it is only used for purchases (see RevenueCat below).
How the AI features work
Photo food scanning, nutrition-label reading, text and voice logging, the AI Coach and goal suggestions all run through Apple’s on-device Foundation Models (Apple Intelligence). The images, text and conversations you give these features are processed entirely on your iPhone. The app does not use any cloud AI: nothing is sent to us or to any third-party AI provider, and the AI features work offline.
Voice input uses Apple’s Speech framework with on-device recognition required, so your voice is transcribed on your iPhone and never uploaded for transcription.
AI results are estimates. See our Terms of Service for how to use them.
Permissions the app may ask for
Each permission is optional and only requested when you use the related feature. You can change them anytime in iOS Settings.
- Camera and Photos: to photograph or pick a meal, nutrition label, barcode or progress photo.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition: to log food and talk to the Coach by voice, transcribed on-device.
- Apple Health: with your permission, the app reads your weight, height and body-fat percentage, and writes your nutrition and body measurements. Health data stays in Apple Health on your device and is never sent to us.
- Notifications: meal and progress reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone. The app also registers for silent background pushes that Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) sends when your synced data changes; we do not send push notifications.
iCloud sync
If you’re signed in to iCloud, the app syncs your food log, weight and body-fat entries, attached photos and Coach chats through Apple’s CloudKit private database, which belongs to your Apple ID. We have no access to it. Apple stores it under the Apple Privacy Policy. To turn sync off, go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud and switch off iCloud for the app.
Third parties
The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs. The only outside services it talks to are:
- Apple: App Store payments and subscription management, Apple Intelligence and Speech (on-device), Apple Health (on-device, with your permission) and iCloud/CloudKit sync to your private database. Apple’s handling of this data is covered by the Apple Privacy Policy.
- RevenueCat: validates your Calorie Tracker Plus subscription or Lifetime purchase. RevenueCat receives the anonymous install ID, your App Store transaction and receipt details, and basic technical information needed to run the service (such as app version, iOS version, device model, App Store country and IP address). It never receives your name, email, food log or health data. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
- Open Food Facts: when you scan a barcode, the app sends only the barcode numberto the public Open Food Facts database to fetch that product’s nutrition facts. As with any web request, Open Food Facts can see your IP address and the app’s name and version. No other data is included. See the Open Food Facts privacy policy.
If you tap a link to an outside website in the app (for example, the scientific sources behind our calorie formulas), it opens in your browser and that site’s own policy applies.
We do not sell or share your personal data, run ads, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Data retention
- Data on your device stays there until you delete it in the app or remove the app.
- iCloud data stays in your private iCloud until you delete it (in the app or in iCloud settings).
- RevenueCat keeps anonymous purchase records for as long as needed to validate your purchases and meet legal and accounting obligations, or until you ask us to delete them.
- We don’t operate servers that store your data, so we have nothing else to retain.
Your choices, rights and deletion
Because your data is on your device and in your own iCloud, you control it directly. You can view and edit everything in the app, and delete it at any time:
- In the app: tap the gear icon on the Home screen, then Health & Data → Delete All Data. This erases the app’s data on your device and in your iCloud.
- Remove the app to erase its data from your iPhone. To also clear iCloud, see Delete your data.
- Apple Health: data the app wrote to Health can be removed in the Health app.
- Purchase records at RevenueCat: email coduy96@gmail.com and we’ll ask RevenueCat to delete the anonymous record.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or port your personal data and to object to certain processing. Since we don’t hold your app data, most of these requests are fulfilled directly on your device; for anything else, email coduy96@gmail.comand we’ll respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
Your data is protected by your iPhone’s built-in encryption and passcode, and iCloud data by your Apple ID. Network requests (RevenueCat, Open Food Facts) use HTTPS.
Children
Calorie Tracker is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, we’ll update this page and the date above. Material changes will also be noted in the app’s release notes.
